Why Should You Meditate?

I’ve been meditating almost every day for the past 16 years. Meditation feels like consuming menthol, but inside the mind. Each day, we meet all sorts of people, some you connect with, others you’d rather not meet again. Every interaction leaves an impression. Imagine your brain as a whiteboard, and every person you meet leaving a mark on it. Meditation helps wipe that board clean, at least partially, bringing you back to a centered, focused state.

When it comes to questioning assumptions or reframing problems, meditation feels like a superpower. Beyond easing anxiety and depression, it helps sort the objects inside the mental garage. Personally, I’ve found full-body scan meditation to be incredibly helpful over the years.

One underrated benefit of meditation is patience. It’s hard to explain exactly how the two are connected, but there’s something about simply observing your thoughts day after day that gives you deeper control over your mind and, in turn, your reactions. That’s for another post.
